Two important Troop events in Novmber fall between Veterans Day and Thanksgiving weekend and will need full participation:
1. Nov. 14-16 Webelos Invitational Campout This is our primary annual recruitment effort - we invite area Webelos to check out our Troop and consider bridging over. ** All Scouts are needed to work with Webelos to demonstrate skills for Readyman and Outdoorsman pins. ** All parents are needed to welcome prospective new parents and to prepare and serve the Saturday Night Thanksgiving Dinner. Details about parent signups and a Signup Genius Link coming soon from Christine Wiedman.
3 steps you can take now: Send the Webelos Invitational Flyer to your former Pack Cubmaster and ask them to announce our event. 1. Send an email to the 5th grade teachers at your son's current/past school and ask them to share it with boys who might be interested in Scouting. 2. Print the flyer and hand it to prospective Scouts by downloading it from Files/Campout Files/Webelos Invitational Flyer. 3. Invite parents of prospective Scouts directly with the Signup Genius Guest Invitation.
2. Nov. 22 Fall Church Cleanup This is our semiannual service project for PGUMC, our Troop's sponsoring organization. Leaf raking, light planting and other specific projects will be done during the Cleanup. ** For the first time, this service project will be merged with the Church's GreatMinds community outreach program, taking the place of previous years' annual GreatMinds Dinner. Look for details and a SignUp Genius Link soon from Molly Perrou about sign-ups and specific activities. Check with Molly if you have ideas or suggestions.

Some of the highlights for the October Camporee need just a little advance planning: FOOD DRIVE: Food will be collected upon entering camp. Please pack canned food so it can be easily accessed. SCREEN PRINTING: Free screen is offered if you complete the Challenge Trail. NOTE: Bring your own cotton t-shirt. SMASH CAR: Take money so you can smash a car with various tools of destruction. Proceeds benefit the Occoneechee Scout Reservation for future improvement projects. ** More details are available in the Camporee Leader's Guide. ** Remember that there was a special waiver form from the Oconeechee Council needed for this Camporee. We need one more adult who can go with the Troop to the Camporee, or who can go on Sunday and bring back a carload of boys. Please check with Mr. Moody if you can help out.
The Camporee has over 1,600 registrations as of Friday and they keep coming in. That means arrival and logistics are critical. Troop gear will need to be packed and loaded at Tuesday night's dinner. On Friday, arrive with a bag dinner packed by 4:00pm for 4:30 departure. Please let Mr. Moody, Mr. Young or Mr. Embrey know if you will have difficulty arriving at PGUMC by 4:00 pm Friday.
