In addition to the normal review of activities and upcoming events, three important items will be covered this Tuesday: 1) Uniform inspection for Summer Camp, 2) Youth protection video, 3) Demonstration: the proper way to pack a trunk.
Griffin Morehead will complete his Eagle Scout Project by June 15, 2014. The goal is to refurbish the Leesville Road High School Interior Courtyard so it is a useful resource for students beginning next year. Heather Houskeeper thru-hiked the MST in 2011 and has written "A Guide to the Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail." She is once again thru-hiking the MST- east to west this time- and will be doing book promotion events along the way. Below is a list of dates and locations of the Triangle-area events:
This is an opportunity to earn service hours on Saturday, June 7. Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail is commemorating National Trails Day with a Falls Lake Workday. The work crews will meet at 9:00 AM in the Food Lion parking lot at the intersection of Patterson/Sherron and Highway 98. Google Maps Link: https://goo.gl/maps/Qi0KB. Leesville Road High School Track from 4:00pm on May 30, 2014 through 10:00am on May 31, 2014.
This event is a walking/running event during which teams of people participate to raise money. The Troop has agreed to join the team from Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and take part in the Relay for Life at Leesville Road High School. The purpose of the event is to raise money for cancer research and to call attention to the number of people afffected by this terrrible disease.
